Recent Findings

About a week ago I was reminded somehow that smartkid@gmail.com is one of my email addresses. I hadn't checked it for so long... a few years at least. I was really surprised to find a few thousand messages in my inbox. Many of them were spam of course but I also found a few curious emails. Some kid named Nick apparently thought that it was his email address and told his friends etc. I had various emails from his friends saying that he should check his email or that they had sent some email many times and they were getting frusterated that he wasn't receiving them. Others were from his school. I hope those weren't important. Anyways I thought it was pretty funny that not just Nick thought that smartkid@gmail.com was their email address. I'm the only one with the password though! I also have a million other email addresses that I don't really use anymore... I would list them but what's the point? I think it's kinda funny. Oh, and if you send me something at the smartkid address... don't expect me to reply back to it ever!

Yesterday I found out that I am being used at the place where I work. I had sensed it for some time but my findings yesterday confirmed it. I am making the same amount per hour as the new kid they just hired in the lumberyard. I asked my boss for a raise and he told me that they would look into it. In my mind I told myself that I would look into another job if that's the answer! They would really suffer without me because they already are suffering from a shortage of employees. I know all of the codes for the computer and I can speak Spanish on top of that... why am I making the same as the new kid? I was supposed to get a raise, and what I'm making now was supposed to be the starting wage. Anyways, I went on a nice long 6.5 mile run after work to try and relieve some stress. It was a very nice run.

Recent Lessons Learned (or re-learned)

Ouch it really hurts Today I learned that a 2X10X16 can do a lot of pain to a toe through a shoe. Rusty, my co-worker and I were pulling an order and he dropped the board and that caused it to slip out of my hands and whack right down on my toe. I'm really surprised that it doesn't look as bad in the pictures as it really does in person. Yeah, it is pretty Aren't you glad it was my toe and not yours?crazy. It hurts to walk on it and is most annoying because I can't go running right now and I want to.

Yesterday I learned that cars like water just as much as humans. Well not quite, but my car was overheating and I couldn't figure it out for a few days because I noticed that the overflow tank was full. Somehow the tank wasn't pumping the water into the radiator and it needed a gallon of water. I don't blame it for the hot weather we have had lately.

Concrete can be sanded... now that is pretty amazing. Diamond sand paper is cool stuff. My cousin helped me pour a shower base for my shower in my bathroom that I have been remodeling. He let me borrow some cool diamond sand paper to smooth out the rough edges. Concrete in and of itself is amazing because you can build just about anything out of it.

Sanding makes dust! I think that one is self explanitory.

Tile sticks really well! To install the vanity in my bathroom I had to remove one piece of tile that I put in... yeah it stuck so well that it left a hole in the wall. That was okay though because the vanity hides it all. I was amazed at the power of the thinset. I will have to post pictures of my cool bathroom soon! Maybe when I get it finished.

On Wednesday I learned that housing isn't stable. The landlord of the place where I was going to live next semester called me up and said that I should come by his house to get a refund because they had decided not to rent the place out this whole coming school year. Now I need to find new housing. It shouldn't be that hard though.

Scholarship application deadlines were forever ago... but at least I still have a chance for them and they let me turn the application in way late.

Grass always grows. Clothes don't "self wash." Bob, our truck driver always says, "Smile, it confuses the enemy." Someone made the most true statement that I heard recently: They said that prIde ruins man. When prIde is in anyones life they start creating enemies and cause fights and lots of problems. A person must always think of others first in everything. I could go on forever but I think I will stop now.

True Charity

I saw one of the neatest things yesterday. I was at a store and the checkout lines were really long and seemed to be taking forever. At the checkout in front of me was an aquaintance purchasing a few things. When the cashier told her how much it was she wrote out the check. For some reason her check was denied. The cashier tried it a few more times, and it still came up denied. The lady said that it couldn't be possible because there was $5,000 in her account. I was thinking to myself, "Self: you could pay for their stuff and maybe they could pay you back later." They went off to the side and the cashier apologized for things taking so long and told me that she would have to wait for a manager to come and clear the register. Just then, the man behind me in the line spoke up and asked the cashier just how much the stuff was that the lady had. Yep, you guessed it. A complete stranger paid the $55 or so for their stuff and would not accept a repayment. The guy behind me asked if it was okay if he went in front of me. I said, "Yes," and tears of amazement started in my eyes. I couldn't help but think what a large Christlike love the guy had. He told the people whose stuff he had just paid for to go and have a nice day. He said, "We all fall short every once in a while." The lady gave him a hug and the cashier said in somewhat of amazement and disbelief, "It's not every day you see something like that." Later the aquaintance asked me if I knew the man, but nope, I really didn't. What an amazing guy! He truly made an impact on many people who were there.

My New Site!

This is my new site... there may still be some bugs that I have to work out... you can still see my old site layout here (for a limited time only). I'm pretty excited about this page! Let me know if you have found a bug in viewing this page, now that it is possible and you can comment! Sometimes it may be that a font which I have installed on my computer isn't on yours, and that could cause some ugly problems.

I need some opinions on a few things too: 1. Should the comments be in a popup? I know that I have popups blocked on my computer and probably most others do too.
2. Should I have the "Navbar" (the bar at the top of the page on blogger sites with the blogger icon and search box) visible? I know it helps to "search the site" if anyone ever does that or would like to ever. Anyways, do you think I should put it back on?
